The mission statement of WOMANROCK.com is to "create a vital and empowered community out of the many talented and motivated women working on their own." Brenda Kahn, who is behind this site, recently released her fifth record, Hunger (Rocket 99, P.O. Box 1460, New York, NY 10009), which is distributed exclusively through the internet at the WOMANROCK.com site. Her music has been described by People magazine as "songs that brace you like a great cup of java at 4 in the morning." Interview magazine wrote: "...this punk-folk priestess enunciates each word as if it might hold the secret to the universe, drawing listeners in with her alluring beat poet delivery and then knocking them dead with stinging truths and cunning wordplay."
